Do you ever feel like your dating life mirrors every Taylor Swift song ever written? I know I definitely have moments like that. Like seriously what the eff? Whenever this happens, I think to myself, this would be a really great song... and then I come back to reality and remember that I am not a song writer nor can I carry a tune in a bucket. I'm just a girl living her life, hoping for love, and looking in all the wrong places.
But in all honesty when I stop and look back at all of the ridiculous dates that I've been on and all of the slightly bizarre people that I've met, I can't help but laugh. We're all just doing the best that we can in life and we all want the same thing, which is love. So here I am totally confessing that I am grateful at this point in my life to have had all of the dating experiences that I have had so far. I am happy about all of the crazy folk that I have met because at the end of the day it was just a silly moment and most of them taught me more about myself (and seriously upped my patience factor) and at the very least helped me to grow. After taking a pause from the dating scene, I'm ready to put myself back on the crazy train. So here's to the next batch of adventurous dates!
Well the day finally came... that's right guys! It was my first time going to a Dodger game. You would think that a born and raised southern California girl would have experienced this by now, I mean I did just turn 33! Well it took all of 33 years but it was finally worth it.
My friend Justin and I went to the game this past Saturday at Dodger stadium. The Angels played the Dodgers and my friend, a loyal Dodger fan was upset about me sporting the color red. But in my defense, I didn't know who the dodgers were going to play and I also bought and sported a dodger hat. Wearing both blue and red to confuse anyone around me.
One of my other purchases was a foam finger and I have to tell you, it was the best purchase in years. Money well spent. The foam finger alone was worth the trip! I also experienced my very first Dodger dog, which wasn't too shabby either!
I will say that I thought that it was pretty awesome seeing Justin Turner hit a homerun. Go blue go! But for me the highlight was when the batters would go up to bat and they picked their own music that played to help pump them up. I never knew that they did that! I was very pleasantly surprised that my new favorite baseballer, Turner, chose my other favorite ginger, Ed Sheeran. Gotta support the gingers ladies! And it's nice to see that they stick together too.
It was a successful game! I got my Dodger hat, my foam finger, a Dodger dog, and a little Ed Sheeran on the side. What a field of dreams people! If you follow my Snapchat (StarrJoy1) you saw the whole thing go down, along with the car ride home, which was just priceless (a singalong may or may not have taken place the entire way). So thank you J for making my first time at a Dodger game so memorable!
I've really gotten into abstract painting lately. I love splashes of color. I thought it would be cool to add some flair to the canvas with gold foil. If you follow my snapchat, StarrJoy1, you know I've been playing around with it a lot lately. Here are some of my creations that will be available for purchase in the shop.
If ya'll know me at all, you know that I am the BIGGEST Britney Spears fan Evs! I have every single one of her albums. I went to see her Circus tour with two inflamed gums and chipmunk cheeks due to a wisdom teeth malfunction. I supported her through her Sinead O Connor era (deep breath. Let's not discuss those dark days any further). Anyway, I wanted to share my thoughts on her new album, Glory. Her style has changed throughout the years and she's definitely embracing the nasal tones of her voice, but I am obsessed! My favorite tracks are "Make me...", "Private show", and the super fun "What you need". Notable second favs are "Invitation", "Man on the moon", "Slumber party", and the bonus "Better", "Liar", and "If I'm dancing". Way to go Brit! And way to make me oooh! Best way to get the dance party started!
Have you heard Glory yet? What's your favorite song?
Thursday was my birthday. The weather was gorgeous (it usually rains on my birthday). So I wanted to make excellent use of the sunny skies. My best friend took me to Malibu Farm in Malibu (duh) to celebrate. Everything is Fresh, organic, and local. (Which the sign clearly states).
We started off with some mimosas. Easy on the orange juice please!
I ordered the Grilled cheese panini (with bacon, of course). It was simply mouth watering.
I don't know about you but I was so excited and anxious for Nick Viall to be on the bachelor this season. He's had his ups and downs when it comes to love. We all know that he made it to the final two with both bachelorettes Andi Dorfman and Kaityln Bristowe only to be rejected by both.
Viewers have had their own opinion of Mr. Viall. Some love him, some hate him, some love to hate him. But for me, I can say that I honestly liked him, didn't like him, liked him again, but now am all like "Eh". He did redeem himself for me on his season of Bachelor in Paradise. When Josh Murray (Andi Dorfman's final pick) swooped in and stole his girl AGAIN!
Can poor Nick get a break? I was totally rooting for him to find love while being one of the most entertaining bachelors of all time. Boy, was I wrong. His season was a total snooze fest! The best part of his season was Corinne. Somebody give that girl a spinoff series!
If you made it through this season, without taking a nap during any of the episodes, Corinne and I congratulate you! Now on to the finale. Nick narrowed it down to Vanessa, a pretty but boring special needs teacher from Canada eh. And Raven, a sweet southern slice of pumpkin pie. My vote was clearly for Raven.
The highlights of this episode for me were obviously Nick's sweet dad who chimed in with the best advice, "Love isn't enough". I learned that on an Episode of Grey's Anatomy. Ya'll remember this one?:
Highlight number two was Santa, because, well duh! He makes everyone Jolly. Highlight three was Vanessa getting irritated by the fact that Nick developed feelings for other women. I mean seriously, you can roll your eyes and flip your hair all you want girl, but he's been dating 25 other women for like three months now, did you just get that?
Needless to say, I was quite surprised when Nick let Raven go. Bachelor Nation was also with me on this. People are so unhappy with Nick's picking Vanessa over Raven that they immediately went to twitter to vent. I was so upset during his break up with her that I went into full on Nene mode and wanted to stop watching the rest of the episode.
I persevered though and made it through to see Nick propose to Vanessa. At least he finally got to actually slip that ring on a girl's finger, right?! Third time's a charm!
Congratulations to the most dull couple evs! I don't think they'll last longer than 3-6 months. But fingers crossed for them that they make it. At least the ring is pretty. And in case you missed my snap story (StarrJoy1), here's a play by play while it was all going down!
What did you think of the final episode and Nick choosing Vanessa over Raven? Comment and share below. XOXO
If you follow me on Snapchat (StarrJoy1) you very well know that I have a slight obsession with a certain Ginger named Ed Sheeran. I am completely in love with his new album Divide. I was already a fan but once I saw him perform "Shape of you" on The tonight show with Jimmy Fallon, I knew I had to get the album A.S.A.P. That's right, I'm still one of those old school folks that purchases those old things called compact discs... I like to have a tangible library!
He is the first artist ever to release two singles at the same time and have them both be in the top ten, so I knew his album wouldn't disappoint. And shit, I was right! I am not exaggerating when I tell you that EVERY single song on this album is amazing!
Here's a rundown on his album song list and the first word that comes to mind after hearing them:
Eraser - Honest
Castle on the hill - Uplifting
Dive- Soulful
Shape of you - Sexy
Perfect - Perfect
Galaway girl - Instrumental genius (Ok, I know I cheated on this one and used two words)
Happier- Sincere
New Man- Humorous
Hearts don't break around here - Sweet
What do I know? - Truthful
How would you feel (PAEAN) - Beautiful
Supermarket Flowers- Captivating
My favorites are definitely "Castle on the hill" and "Dive"...but then there's "Shape of you" and "How would you feel" Oh, and "Supermarket flowers"...and ok, I can't pick a favorite because they are all THAT good! Thank you Ed for making my ears oh so happy!
Have you bought the album yet? What is your favorite song? Feel free to comment and share below!
One of my favorite junior retail stores, Wet seal has closed it's doors (tear). But I had to share my latest purchase. I got this sweater, beanie, and necklace for $13.00 total! Such a steal.
I am so sad to see Wet Seal go, and there are hopes that they are taking a temporary break and might be rebranding and reopening... but ironically they might just be "Forever on holiday". Farewell Wet Seal, it's been real.
StarrJoy16 has had a super busy and productive month! (Insert arm flexing emoji here!) We've been cranking out new designs left and right. I am proud to share my favorite designs of the month along with some of my favorite models and yours truly:
